That's it — Bud now lives in your ChatGPT. He'll hop, nap, and keep you company while you chat.
Bud on your desktop — Windows app
Using the ChatGPT Windows desktop app? Bud can roam your entire desktop — not just a browser tab. This version uses a larger v2 sprite sheet plus a pet.json, packaged in a ready-to-drop-in folder.
-
Download the desktop pet zip.
Grab bud-desktop-pet.zip from this link. It contains a bud folder with everything the desktop app needs.
-
Extract the zip.
Right-click the downloaded file and choose "Extract All…". You'll get a bud folder containing pet.json and spritesheet.webp.
-
Move the folder into place.
Place the whole bud folder in C:\Users\[username]\.codex\pets\. If the pets folder doesn't exist yet, create it.
-
Restart the ChatGPT app.
Close and reopen the ChatGPT Windows desktop app. Bud appears and starts wandering all over your desktop.
Windows only for now — the browser version above works everywhere.
